Urban Decay's Pulp Fiction Collection is all about blood red nails and lips and sultry smoky eyes to replicate the look that inspired a thousand bobs and sold a thousand lipsticks. The style has been emulated so many times over the years but this line by Urban Decay couldn't be more perfect in terms of timing and the brand itself is so Pulp Fiction in so many ways.
The collection comes with an eye palette - which has a dinky little instruction card to show you exactly how to replicate the look - blood red lipstick, lip liner, a nail polish all made especially for the collection and all called Mrs. Mia Wallace, and a silver sparkly eye liner in Gunmetal which, as Urban Decay tells us, may not have been worn by the character in the movie but seems like something she would wear if it was available back then in the '90s!
I tried out the eye palette, nail polish and glitter liner and had so much fun trying to aspire to Mrs. Mia Wallace's makeup look. And, I've never been happier to have cut my hair earlier this year into a long bob... it finally came in handy!
The kit comes with a perfectly big mirror and a two sided brush to apply each step correctly. Each smooth and velvety shadow in the palette comes with a Pulp Fiction themed title: Righteous, Tyranny, Vengeance, Furious, Anger. The card that comes in this epically Pulp Fiction designed palette - which includes one of the most memorable quotes from the movie - shows you each step to replicate the look.
With eyes suitably smoky and blood red nails applied I used a very similar lipstick and liner I had to complete the look and the fringe and bob helped finish it off. Though it's a lot harder to pull off the 'tude Thurman falls into so easily!
I was quite tempted to paint in the bloody nose from that extremely memorable scene but perhaps I'll leave it for Halloween. And speaking of the upcoming dress up fest, this collection couldn't be more perfect in it's timing to use for the occasion. Get your wigs, white shirts and Urban Decay Palettes at the ready!
