Eye Should Ko Ko

British eye-only cosmetic company Eyeko made a very, very clever decision last year making Alexa Chung the face of their brand - it's certainly what drew my attention to it. And, with Chung also working closely with the brand creatively, Eyeko can do no wrong right now and have the goods to prove it.

Lash Curler €14, Fat Brush Mascara €18, Eye Do Liquid Liner €16, Skinny Liquid Liner in Black and Purple €12 each
Up to the end of last year Eyeko were well known for their brand of original and quirky cosmetics but a change came to company last year when they decided to focus on eyes only - quite aptly considering their name and the popularity of their inventive eye line.

The company was set up by makeup experts and partners Max and Nina Leykind in 1999 to bring their expertise and creativity to the make up world and have been constantly innovating ever since. In 2013 the couple brought the endlessly stylish Alexa Chung on board and her name alone associated with Eyeko not only meant that her Alexa Chung Eye Do range sold out everywhere the day it launched but her involvement  also brought it to the consciousness of every admirer of Chung including her 1.3 million Twitter followers and her 972k Instagram devotees.

But Eyeko isn't simply popular by association and Chung didn't take the job on just to sell any old brand. The purveyors of eyes provide expertise in making professional eye products of superior quality with a reasonable price tag to boot.

I gathered a selection of some of their most popular products gradually over the past few months and the best thing about the brand is that there is something to suit every wish and taste in eye makeup. I chose the Fat Brush Mascara for super volume because my taste is big fat lashes and I use the Skinny Liquid Eyeliner in Black to make a nice neat line with the very tidy marker-style liner for during the day and at night I combine that with Alexa's Eye Do Liquid Eyeliner - one of the brand's strongest products - which is carbon black, neat and controllable and is a bit more fluid that the Skinny Liquid Liner but doesn't smudge or leak and provides a nice - not over the top - dramatic eye that really lasts all night.

I became so tired of looking in the mirror an hour after I left the house to find my eyes were completely smudged, which led me to go on a quest to find the perfect liquid liner and Eye Do has impressed me so much more than most brands with its staying power but also its strong pigmentation.

With a new line of eyeshadow pencils Chung recently introduced to the world at this years Met Gala called Me and My Shadow one can only imagine what this company with this collaboration have planned next. I will be previewing the shadow and looking into their celebrated brow range over the next while and report back but, so far, this is a brand I think anyone who loves perfecting striking eyes should try or anyone who just wants a reliable liquid liner that suits your tastes and just simply does what you want it to do! Which is rarer than I could have realised!

I'd also like to say, Eyeko's website http://www.eyeko.com is one of the most user-friendly I've ever come across. Along with their free postage to Ireland it has the added benefit of offering little free gifts here and there which is very enticing. Eyeko feels like a company who really know what they are doing and deserve the success they will undoubtedly achieve.
