Sixties Summer Styling

A touch of sixties style meets one of summer's hottest shades with this navy piqué dress from Dunnes Stores' boutique brand Savida, which offers a high quality structured on-trend dress for a pocket-pleasing price.

I've been pleasantly surprised and impressed with a lot of Savida's strongest pieces this year and this sixties inspired navy piqué dress is one of the strongest pieces I've seen the Dunnes brand present in a long time. It was an immediate winner for me and mixing it with coral and mint lifts it right up for sizzling summer days and long hot evenings and it's such a structured dress it fits like a glove while the piqué material is very forgiving for any lumps and bumps.

But the best thing about this dress is how it mixes being very on trend this summer with being quite a strong piece overall that can be dressed down with sandals and big bright beads but is also structured enough to be dressed up too and worn with heels; even smart enough to be worn in a formal fashion at work.

For this outfit I went for a dressed-down option and choose a very thrifty pair of mint strappy sandals from Penneys, which cost a very surprising €6, and a big chunky set of mint beads I've had for years to complement the large white buttons of the dress - the element that really sold me on it.

Makeup wise, for hot summer days, light but stylish is the best option so I went with navy and coral to complement the dress and sandals using Benefit's Triple Performing Facial Emulsion with SPF 15 for every day moisture and sun protection and, as a pretty amazing foundation substitute for the summer months, I recently started using Kiehl's Micro Blur Skin Perfector which really evens out skin tone straight away and works over time to improve the overall quality of your skin, I'll be reviewing it in its own right shortly.

To complement the navy sixties-style dress Eyeko's Skinny Liquid Liner in Navy is perfect for an era-appropriate cat flick! Stila's Convertible Colour in Petunia is a great 2 in 1 for lips and cheeks and the colour matches the navy perfectly and, finally, Lancôme's Vernis in Love Nail Collection in Marine Chic is the longest lasting, high quality product for nails I've ever tried and tops this look off perfectly. Less is more in the sunshine but such a striking, form-fitting dress deserves a bit of sixties pop in the face too which the navy cat eye suits down to a tee.

Savida's Piqué Dress in navy is €40 and is available from Dunnes nationwide.
