It's A Dog's Life!

Siopaella, one of the most original and innovative businesses in Dublin, is proving its generosity and love for animals with yet another fundraising event in aid of a selection of animals welfare charities.

It's no secret that the owners of Siopaella, partners Ella de Guzman and Steve Ryan, are very fond of animals. You need but to walk into either of their Templebar stores to see this as you will more than likely be greeted by their adorable pooches Raquel and Louis, one for each store. And they have shown this endless love for our furry friends by hosting regular fundraisers for animal welfare charities and this Sunday, June 29th, marks three years of Siopaella's generosity with yet another fundraiser. Since June 2011 Siopaella has raised a whopping €15,000 for charities including A Dog's Life, Cara Rescue, My Lovely Horse Rescue and Cat's Aid.

Siopaella is a consignment store, buying and selling  "pre-loved" clothes, shoes and accessories from brands ranging from Topshop, Asos and River Island all the way up to Marc Jacobs, Vivienne Westwood and Chanel with Karen Millen and Ted Baker in between. The stock is put on sale in the shop for two months and if it doesn't sell during that time it is donated to their charity fund and this stock - along with other donations - is put up for sale at these fundraising events. Every item - clothes, shoes, accessories -  in the event costs €3, a steal for many of these pieces and for a wonderful cause which leads to very happy customers! The staff of Siopaella all volunteer their time - from preparation the night before to working at the event - and all proceeds go to a selection of animal charities.

The event runs from 12.00pm until 6.00pm and, alongside the €3 items, a whole new concept will be introduced in the form of in-house charity auctions of designer items donated by some very generous consignors especially for the event with bidding starting at €1! Which will add a bit of extra excitement to the proceedings - as if it didn't have enough of that already! The pieces left over after the day has ended are then donated to charities such as Debra Ireland and the MS Society. In fact, over the past three years, over 500 kilos of stock has been donated by Siopaella to these charities which goes on to be sold in the specific charity shops to raise much needed funds.

As time goes on these events have become more and more popular so the queue starts about 10.30am on the Sunday morning and doors open at 12.00pm so get there early! The wait is definitely worth it for a chance to pick up some amazing designer clothes for about the price of Big Mac and there is the satisfaction of walking away knowing that every penny raised is going towards a very worthy cause at a time where more and more we see terrible stories appear in the news about animals abandoned or mistreated. It's good to know that there are people in the world like the owners and staff of Siopaella who care about the welfare of animals everywhere and are prepared to do something about it.

Siopaella's animal welfare charity event begins at 12pm this Sunday, June 29th, selling more than 500 items at €3 a pop at their store at 8A Crow Street, Templebar, Dublin 2.
